The majority of our staff don't have dedicated phone numbers anymore, so we have the University switchboard as our BBMS/BIP contact number.
It would be easier to request that donors email our office directly with any questions instead of risking them getting redirected to areas of the University that may not know how to handle a donor call.

Hi Mina, thanks for commenting - I hope you're doing okay? My suggestion stems from the fact that we do not use phone lines anymore. The number on our BBMS account is the University switchboard so I've been hoping for the phone number to become an optional field because email is a much easier contact method than phone these days. Rather than making the number optional, the ability to add a sentence to advise donors would also be helpful, if that's a suitable alternative?
Hi Adrian - thank you for sharing this feedback. When setting up the BBMS account, the "statement descriptor" fields included an email address and phone number. These values are shown on the card/bank statements for donors, and the same details (both email and phone) are included on the direct debit agreement (https://kb.blackbaud.com/knowledgebase/articles/Article/53587). These contact details should reflect how donors can best reach your organization.
