Donor Notification for Direct Debit Returns/Failed Credit Card Transactions

The donor and the organization should receive notifications when a credit card fails to go through or when a direct debit is reversed. Important for the donor to also be aware immediately of the transaction.

I agree that it would best serve us, the client, and our donors to know when credit card transactions fail. A notification email seems to be the best way to make this happen. It's best for us to be proactive then to have us be notified by the donor asking what the issue is.

Blackbaud already does this for Direct Debit Part. There are currently notification setting for Direct Debit cancellations, declines, and returns.

Direct debit cancellations — Receive notifications when a payer cancels a direct debit mandate through their bank (for accounts that process in AUD and GBP).

Direct debit declines — Receive notifications when direct debit transactions are declined for reasons such as insufficient funds, a closed account, or incorrect account information.

Direct debit returns — Receive notifications for direct debit transactions that were approved but then returned by the bank — such as when an account holder disputes the transaction.
