The current card readers require devices that have an audio jack in order to function, however most modern devices have moved away from having the input. i.e. any new iphone and android device. It would be very helpful if there were readers available that connected via bluetooth.
As this is developed, it would be key to include the ability to have donors use their mobile wallets through applepay directly with the "swipper" device. This would enable anyone with a mobile wallet to use their phone with mobile pay.
Thanks for the feedback. We agree that bluetooth is becoming the standard for connecting mobile devices with hardware. I don't have a timeline to share at the moment for when to expect it, but bluetooth/wireless connectivity is absolutely a must-have for the next card reader device that we offer for mobile payments. In the meantime, for newer iOS devices, we recommend using the lightning adapter that comes with it, and we'll be sure to keep you posted on new card reader devices as news becomes available.
