We currently use the blackbaud mobile pay app at events. This is ideal since everything flows to BMS and you can upload to Raiser's Edge. It's convenient to take payment and donations right then and there, however we can NOT edit the content of the receipt/email the donors are sent. This is a problem since we want people to be able to pay for silent auction items they may have won at our Fashion Shows or Galas. These are not donations since they will be receiving something. The portion that may be considered a donation is anything above fair market value. The receipt or acknowledgement letters do not currently reflect this. We would like to add the text below. This would definitely be a time saver for us.
Effective January 1, 1994 the IRS requires a receipt or other acknowledgement for each gift of $250 or more is on file to support charitable deductions. The charitable deduction is limited to the excess, if any, of the contribution over the value of goods and services provided. If this is an acknowledgement for a charitable auction item please use the item cost of goods that has been provided and a copy of this letter for your files. No other letter will be sent. Additionally it would be better if the reciepts/emails looked more like the ones in Luminate, and at the very least contained our EIN.
I agree. We have to now download the transactions and send out additional follow up emails with the correct tax verbiage instead of having it automated
I agree that the the receipt need to be customizable. I would like it to serve as both the thank you and the receipt.
Being able to customize the acknowledgement email would be great.
Agreed, also see Idea "Item List for MobilePay" to enable a list of items to identify why the charge was being processed.
